Very few French girls of modest origin knew during the XIX century a fate as
exceptional as that of Aurelie Picard.
Overriding compulsory residence, prejudice, defying the law prohibiting mixed
marriages, Aurelie left France with the prince. We are in 1871, she marries
Si Ahmed Tidjani in Algiers prior to going to Ain El Mahdi, base of the brotherhood
near Laghouat. She was twenty three. The adventure starts... her political sense,
her real commitment with her husband, learning Arabic and Muslim customs have
marked the region. Upon her initiative, her husband had built and highlighted
in Koudrane, which t used to be hunting holiday place, a property of 800 hectares
then a sumptuous house that she will live in as of 1888.
