Tourism in Australia
Coach touring
A number of coach companies provide extended tours and combine sightseeing,
quality accommodation, fine food and good company. Coach captains have a wealth
of local knowledge and excellent driving safety records.
All-inclusive tours include transport, accommodation and most daily meals.
Prices for camping tours include touring on a five star bus or four wheel drive
vehicle, meals (usually a cook accompanies the tour), sleeping bag and equipment.
You don't even need to know how to erect a tent.
Cruising and boating
The beauty of being the largest island on earth is that options for cruising,
sailing or boating are endless. Australia has more than 35,000 kilometres of
coastline and countless harbours, rivers and lakes. All tastes and budgets are
catered for. For the more adventurous, self-drive boat and sail charters are
available on the harbour or on the tranquil Hawkesbury River, close to Sydney.
Typically, no formal boating licence is required although some basic boating
or sailing experience is helpful. Options range from houseboats, yachts to sleek
cabin cruisers.
Opals
Australian opals and other precious or semiprecious stones, pearls, sheepskins
and leather goods are widely available and highly sought after by locals and
visitors alike.
Beauty Products
Grown in a pristine environment, the ingredients used in Australian cosmetics
imbue the true spirit of the land - natural and real. Clean air and water has
helped to develop some of the world's best cosmetics.
Aboriginal arts
All major cities have galleries and stores that are devoted exclusively to
the products of Aboriginal Australians, whether it's a dot painting, a boomerang
or a didgeridoo from Arnhem Land.
