Mingachevir

Evolved on the coast of the Kura, the city of Mingachevir still is very young, however it has had time to become famous outside Azerbaijan. At first, as the "Construction of the century", when at the beginning of 50s of the XX century, on the wave of Soviet enthusiasm it has been constructed in the most beautiful place of the country. Near to it, on the place of the flooded gorge, the Mingachevir water basin was constructed, and on the coast of the river the Olympic base on rowing is located. Thousand of foreign visitors had already spent ti$e there with advantage: both for holidays and sports business trips.

The ruins of the ancient town of Sudagilan with the rests of a cult construction have been found in vicinities of Mingachevir. On a soft stone capital with peacocks and colors there were cut the Albanian letters. Greek, Roman and Sasanids coins of V-VI centuries have been discovered there, as well Medieval scientists asserted, that very long time ago on the right coast of Kura River there was a settlement Mingachevir, and its name meant for the courageous travelers "come back, there is no way further".

Now the modern city with almost one hundred thousand inhabitants opens for tourists a set of interesting routes on vicinities, including "distant and close roads" to exotic restaurants on the coast of the Kura River.
