Active holidays

The natural, historical and cultural landscape of the Usti Region offers a perfect setting for active holidays - sports enthusiasts, passionate sightseers and lovers of cultural events will all find many opportunities from which to choose. You can roam or cycle through the forests of the Krusne Mountains, explore mine adits, take in the scenery from atop the observation towers of the Luzicke Mountains and the Ceske stfedohofi mountain range, enjoy a boat ride on the Elbe River, climb the cliffs of Tiske steny, discover the wildlife at the zoological gardens in Chomutov or plunge into the pure water of Kamencove Lake.

A region of beer and wine

The enchanting nature and historic setting of the Usti Region is enhanced by experiences that will certainly involve fine food and drink. Czech cuisine offers outstanding dishes such as pork with sauerkraut and dumplings, classic svickova (beef in a cream sauce with dumplings), potato pancakes and plum dumplings. And good food demands delicious beverages: these include the golden brew with a label depicting the jovial Mr. Zippich from theVelke Bfezno Brewery or excellent wine from the vineyards around VelkeandMaleZernosekyLitomef ice, Roudnice nad Labem and Chramce in the Most region.

The spa industry in the Usti Region is represented by the Teplice territory, which is now returning to its full glory and recapturing the fame of its high-quality services and environment dominated by beautiful spa architecture and scenic natural surroundings. Specialized in the motor and nervous systems, the most celebrated spa is found in the city of Teplice itself. Another spa offering peat treatments in a romantic setting is found in the small town of Msene-lazne.The area's newest health resort facility is Evzenie Spa in Klasterec nad Ohfi.

Nature

The natural scenery of the Usti landscape is a colourful palette of remarkable beauty protected on the northwest by the massive fortifications of the Krusne Mountains. Nearby the volcanic cones of the Ceske stredohofi mountain range project majestically toward the sky, the mighty Elbe River runs through a magical valley, beginning with the "Bohemian Gate" and ending in the canyon of the Labske piskovce protected landscape area. Gazing down on all this beauty from the east are the cliffs of Pravcicka brana in the Czech Switzerland National Park and the peaks of the picturesque Luzicke Mountains.

Monuments

The majority of the historical sights in the Usti Region are located near the Elbe and Ohfe rivers and in the valleys and foothills of the Krusne and Luzicke Mountains, where the rich past has left for future generations numerous captivating historical town centres, castles, cha¬teaux, monasteries, examples of folk architecture and observation towers. Watching over all these treasures is the most distinguished Czech moun¬tain and a symbol of our national history - the majestic Mount Rip with the Rotunda of Sts George and Vojtech near Roudnice nad Labem.
