Prayer wheel

Buryatia > Prayer wheel

Prayer wheel

Prayer wheel (khurde) was installed by the initiative of JSC «Baikal Airport», with the support of the Group of Companies «Metropol» and with the consent of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia. Khurde, made by the clergy of Ivolginsk Datsan, the center of Buddhism in Russia, is a stabilizer of mental and physical balance and a start of the acquaintance with the Republic of Buryatia for all coming through the «air gates».

There are 27 million mantras «OM MANI BADME HUM' of the Bodhisaddu of Compassion Avalokiteshvara in this prayer wheel. The rotation of the wheel with this mantra creates a protective shell around a person that influences the others positively, and brings him/her peace of mind to help the living beings. The sacred texts say that a complete rotation of the prayer wheel according to the rotation of the sun with a pure motivation equals to the reading aloud all of the prayers inside. Pure motivation is a desire of the welfare for all living beings. Whilst rotating the prayer wheel, we can simultaneously recite the six-syllable mantra «OM MANI BADME HUM».

1925 can rightly be called the founding year of the Ulan-Ude airport, when the planes flying from Moscow to Beijing landed on the flat ground of the airfield for the first time. The aviation team was established in May 1926, the first one in the vast territory of Siberia and the Far East. Today the Ulan-Ude airport actively cooperates with the largest Russian cargo and passenger carriers and is one of the safest airports in the world with an excellent safety statistics.

In May 2011 JSC «Baikal Airport» joined the Group of Companies «Metropol».

The prayer wheel for several kalpas (about 10 000 years) was kept at owners of water (lusad) from the time of the Buddha Marmezad. The great yogi Nagarjuna introduced this tradition mantras wheel in the world of human. The presence of a prayer wheel in a particular area creates a protective aura, an overwhelming negative impact of humans and nonhumans who are on the ground and in the air.
