Gulangyu

Gulangyu is a small island covering only 1.87 square km. The Riguang Rock is the highest and it is the symbol of Xiamen. Because the holes in the southwestern reefs hit by the waves make sounds like the drum beating, thus here comes the name of “Gulangyu” . The coastline is winding on the island. All around in the thin natural bathing beach of slow sand of slope, the reef of the superb craftsmanship interesting forms peculiar interest which makes people multifarious in reverie. Overlapping peaks foil the blue water, white clouds, green trees and bright flowers. All there render an atmosphere of a fairyland. The island is keeping a lot of buildings with various Chinese and foreign architectural styles. Thus the island has a laudatory title “The world Architecture Museum” . The residents in Gulangyu love music. There are more than 600 pianos in this small island with 10K population. The density of piano stands on the top in china thus comes the name of “Island of Pianos” “Musical island” etc. Walking on the island, you may enjoy the music accompany playing.

Key scenic spots: Riguang Rock, Shuzhuang Garden, Piano Museum, Bright Moonlight garden, Aquarium, Organ museum, etc.

Arriving way: The visitors can take the special line ferryboat in the ferry to arrive Gulangyu island. Ferryboat: one shift every 10 minutes during 7:00—19:00; oneshift every 15 minutes during other hours. Return fare is RMB8 (oneway charge).

Note: There are a lot of shell shops, dried fruit shops and other shops. The visitors can also buy traditional featured pie of Gualangyu of Xiamen at the Longtou road.

Xiamen Botanical Garden

It is located at Wanshi mountain of Xiamen island, also called “ Wanshi Botanical Garden” . It is AAAA Grade scenic spot with an area of 4.93 square KM. Now the garden has introduced growing tropical, sub-tropical plants, and special for Palm area, Cactus world, Flower hall, Pine Cedars area, Giant meadow, Rosebush garden, Flower garden, Garden of City flower, etc.

Jimei Tan Kah Êåå Memorial park

Jimei is opposite to north Xiamen Island. It is famous as hometown of well-known patriot overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee. In Jimei district, there are Jimei school village, Jiageng park, the Turtle garden, Guilai Tang park, Former residence of Mr Tan Kah Kee, Mr. Tan Kah Kee memorial, etc.

The Expo Garden

The Expo Garden is built for 6th China international Garden and Flower Expo .It is located in Jimei Xinlin Bay,besides Mr. Tan kah kee’ s hometown. It is a resort park with many small islands, gardens, good sceneries and cross-strait melodies. It covers 10.82 square KMs, among it the land area is 5.55 square KMs, which is the biggest Expo Garden on water.

There are 4 parts of this area: Haicang Bridge, Bridge museum, Huoshao island, Xiamen fol' cumstom park.Haicang Bridge is the third biggest suspension bridge in the world.
