Chita region
Chita Region, one of 89 regions of Russia is located on this area. Our region
may be very attractive for visitors from different countries, but not many trav-!
elers know about such a land in the depth of Siberia. So, there was a guidebook
written, where all sites of tourist interest were described. This booklet contains
a short summary of a CD named "List of Tourist Resources of Chita Region
and Aginsk Buryat Autonomous District" and descriptions of 77 beautiful
places that one may like to visit in our area.
Vakat Volcanic Area.
1. Description: This area is very interesting from geo¬logical point of view.
About 10 volcanoes are located within a territory as big as 25 square km, and
not less than 15 volcanoes are located within a territory of 60 square km.
2. Location: Kalar District, northern side of Udokan Mountains, within a basin
of Vakat and Talaya rivers.
3. Protection status: No status.
4. Transport accessibility: By air: 50 km from Chara village, 600 km from Chita.
5. Residence ability: Camping.
6. Main sites: Volcanoes themselves, signs of glaciers, high-mountain tundra.
7. Residence safety: 0-1 point.
Aymnakh volcanic area.
1. Description: About 30 volcanoes are located on a western end of Udokan
lava plato, within an area of 250 square km. This area has the biggest volcanoes
of all plato. There are some volcanoes that are really unique for Central Asia.
2. Location: Kalar District, Udokan Mountains, left bank of Aymnakh River.
3. Protection status: No status.
4. Transport accessibility: By air (helicopter): 600 km from Chita. 100 km from
Chara village.
5. Residence ability: Camping.
6. Main sites: Different types of volcanoes, their details, mineral springs.
7. Residence safety: 2-3 points.
Aku Volcano.
1. Description: This object is very interesting for its geological construction.
2. Location: Kalar District, axle part of Udokan Mountains, between Aku, Syni
and Turuktaka rivers.
3. Protection status: Natural site.
4. Transport accessibility: By air (helicopter): 600 km from Chita, 95 km from
Chara village.
5. Residence ability: Camping.
6. Main sites: A lake inside the volcano crater, other geological objects.
7. Residence safety: 1-2 points.
Dolinny (Valley) Volcano.
(Name was given because of its location in river's valley).
1. Description: Interesting geological construction, beautiful landscapes.
2. Location: Kalar District, Udokan Mountain, near Inarichi River.
3. Protection status: No status.
4. Transport accessibility: By air (helicopter): 600 km from Chita, 95 km from
Chara village.
5. Residence ability: Camping.
6. Main sites: Interesting geological objects.
7. Residence safety: 1-2 points.
Inarichi Volcano.
(Name was given after a nearby river).
1. Description: This volcano is a biggest of its type in the region. Its area
is around 15 square km. It is also unique in geological point of view.
2. Location: Kalar District, Udokan Mountain, near Inarichi and Aymnakh rivers.
3. Protection status: No status.
4. Transport accessibility: By air (helicopter): 600 km from Chita, 90 km from
Chara village.
5. Residence ability: Camping.
6. Main sites: Interesting geological objects, view from its southern and eastern
ends, sights of glaciers, lava in a valley of Inarichi river, mineral springs.
7. Residence safety: 2 3 points.
Syni Volcano.
(Named after a river, in which valley this volcano is located).
1. Description: Interesting geological construction and processes.
2. Location: Kalar District, Udokan Mountains, mid-Syni River, left of Aym¬nakh.
3. Protection status: Natural site.
4. Transport accessibility: By air (helicopter): 600 km from Chita, 100 km from
Chara village.
5. Residence ability: Camping.
6. Main sites: Valley stream of Syni River, canyons, grottos, mineral springs.
7. Residence safety: 2-3 points.
