Cordoba

Situated in the Central zone of the country, Cordoba is a province with many facets, both touristic as well as business. Gastronomy plays an important role, particularly in the area of regional foods and drinks, such as cheese, processed meats, jams and preserves, beers and wines, The production of the latter is concentrated around Colonia Caroya, just 48 kms away from the capital and part of the ecological-touristic circuit of Argentina.

Mediterranean wines

Just as with other provinces, wine came to Cordoba thanks to the Jesuits by the start of the XVII century there were already some 20,000 vines in Jesus Maria, very close to Colonia Caroya which was also, at one time, a Jesuit settlement. In the XIX century a group of Italian immigrants from Friuli, arrived with the intention of making wine. In this way the area became to be known as "maker of regional wines".
