Sun to fill you with enthusiasm

The Mazarron bay, a privileged area where the sea breeze whispers amongst forests
of rock; Aguilas, with its incredible variety of contrasting landscapes on the
shores of the Mediterranean.
Light to lead you on a trail of discovery
A region that will take you on a journey of discovery, revealing the legacy
of a past that is present at every turn. Through its archaeological sites, its
majestic monuments, the wealth of its museums and its deep- rooted traditions
you can discover what makes Murcia Murcia and how it has been crafted by the
forge of time.
An extraordinary journey through history in a land of frontiers. Four cities,
each brimming with its own unique cultural legacy: Lorca Workshop of Time, an
entertaining way to discover the Middle Ages; Cartagena Port of Cultures, a
setting in which to relive the Punic Wars between Romans and Carthaginians;
the Holy City of Caravaca de la Cruz, where legend, pilgrimage and devotion
become one; and Murcia, Cultural Crossroads, where a profusion of artistic styles
comes together at the crossroads between past and present. A region that will
fill you with energy. Energy to discover the towns, villages and landscapes of
its interior; energy to relish its typical cuisine; energy to marvel at its traditional
crafts. Exceptional both for their beauty and for their environmental interest,
its landscapes are a vast tapestry of contrasts: ochre-coloured fields of crops
bordered by verdant wooded hillsides and rugged mountain ranges. Places with a
charm of their own, where you can enjoy all manner of outdoor activities: walking
the endless trails, climbing precipitous rock faces, exploring hidden depths,
soaring aloft in the blue sky. Immerse yourself in the vineyards of the north-east,
the flora and fauna of the Sierra Espuna, the age-old histories of the north-west
or the villages of the Ricote Valley.
Ideas оf according to the season
From winter bathing to autumn diving. The Region of Murcia is blessed by many
hours of year-round sunshine, which means that it is possible to enjoy all kinds
of activities whatever the time of year. In this section you will find ideas
for day-trips and cultural visits, routes to explore, places to camp or to be
smothered in chocolate, as well as many other suggestions to keep you entertained
in spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Spend a day CARAVACA DE LA CRUZ in the great outdoors If you are in Caravaca
de la Cruz, a day at the beautiful Fuentes del Marques springs is a must. At
the Torreon de los Templarios or Templars' Tower, there is an interactive exhibition
about the secrets of nature. And, if you are keen on photography you will be
spoilt for choice, with the beautiful mountain views and unmatched crystalline
springs.
The tapas route
Wander from square to square, relish the pleasure of being out of doors and
experience the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the city of Murcia. Going out
for tapas is a real tradition here and is a great way to sample the exquisite
gastronomy offered by the numerous well- plenished tapas bars and restaurants
that dot the city. Lively conversation with family or friends is all part of
the culture. Highly recommended at any time of year and any time of day.
Cieza
Feast your eyes on one of the Region of Murcia's most beautiful natural landscapes.
From the viewpoint at the top of the Serreta de Cieza, you can admire the spectacular
River Segura as it makes its way down through the Almadenes Canyon. In the La
Serreta cave, whose paintings are UNESCO World Heritage listed, you can see
the remains of the Iberian peninsula's only Roman building to have been found
inside a cave up until now. The North-West combines nature, tradition and heritage. Moratalla, Calasparra
and Bullas are ideal destinations for lovers of nature and outdoor pursuits
thanks to their abundant woodlands and mountain ranges. In Bullas, the landscape
is also dotted with extensive vineyards. Its mountain towns with their steep,
narrow streets are home to a wealth of cultural heritage, as is the case with
Caravaca de la Cruz and Cehegln.
Gastronomy is another of the area's attractions, endorsed in many cases by
official Designated Origin products. Many of these can be bought alongside elaborate
handicrafts in the street markets in the inland towns and villages.
A comprehensive network of rural accommodation and camp-sites, many of which
are Qfor Quality Tourism certified, means that you can enjoy everything that
the Region of Murcia's inland towns have to offer in the utmost comfort and
convenience.
The interior of the Murcia Region is ideal for relaxation, for enjoying nature,
for taking part in adventure sports and for relishing fine cuisine. The different
interior districts combine fresh, pure air with history and traditions, mediaeval
fortresses, archaeological sites, little trodden roads, deep-rooted customs
and u;ays of life.
In this land where distance does not exist, countless contrasts unfurl before
the visitor: the cultural legacy of the North-West, the Moorish charm of the
Ricote Valley, the flavourful designated origin wines of the North-East and
active tourism in the Sierra Espuna.
