Makushin and Posokhin’s Trading House

(Nature Department of Irkutsk Regional Museum)

This mansion was built in 1903 in the style of eclecticism – decorated with Gothic turrets and elements of the Moorish style and Old Russian architecture. Before the revolution of 1917 the house belonged to the Siberian educator and publisher Pyotr Makushin. Part of the house was a printing house and bindery, the other part was a bookshop. Makushin’s cousin, Vasily Posokhin, was co-owner of the shop. Nowadays the mansion houses The Nature Department of the Irkutsk Regional Museum and a Museum Studio. K.Marx's street, 11
