Merchant Trapeznikov’s Mansion (Irkutsk Regional Court of Law)

This mansion was built in the beginning of the 19th century by a merchant named Trapeznikov. After the Fire of 1879, architect E. Hoffman rebuilt the house, adding a third floor and a glass gallery for shops. After the reconstruction in 1885, a luxurious hotel was opened here with a cheap hostel in the back yard. By that time Vladimir Sukachov had become the owner. After Sukachov was elected Head of the City, he consigned the building to the District Army’s Headquarters and then to the Judicial Division and District Court, Prosecutor’s Office and Notary Archives. Since 1926 the mansion has housed the Regional Court of Law. Street Proletarian, 10
