Russian-Asian Bank

The building was constructed in 1912 in a modernist style by the Irkutsk architect
V.I. Kolyanovskii for the Irkutsk branch of the Russian-Asian bank, one of the
largest banks in pre-revolutionary Russia. The bank financed gold mining, coal-mining,
flour-grinding, sawing, tanning industries, grain trade and transport development.
In 1914 a conference on reclamation of the Northern trade route was held here.
Irkutsk broker’s board committee meetings were held here in from 1911 till 1917.
At the end of 1917 - beginning of 1918 the building housed the Regional Revolutionary
and Military Committee, then in 1918 Alexander Kolchak’s Government and later,
the Soviet government. Nowadays one of the city polyclinics is located here. Lenin's
