Campiglia Marittima
Located at the center of a vast mining district, whose ancient testimony is
the nearby Rocca di San Silvestro, Campiglia Marittima, a fortified village
developed between the 10th and the 14th century and today cqntaining an archaeological-
mining park, presents an urban fabric of Medieval pattern. Outside the historic
center rises the Pieve di San Giovanni, in Pisan-Romanesque style, with a polychrome
marble facade in which theJeft portal conserves on the architrave an interesting
bas-relief from the late 12th century with the allegorical scene of a wild boar
hunt.
