Iskilip Rock Tomb is located to the south and southeast side
of Iskilip Castle and was built in the Roman period. The south-eastern rock
tomb has a rectangular entrance with two columns. There is a sitting lion to
be found on the capitals. On the opposite sides of the triangular capital are
2 lion figures. In one there is a sword in the lion's grasp and in the other
a goblet. Inside the tomb room there are two shelves for the corpses.
Layin Kapihkaya Monumental Rock Tomb is at Kirkdilim, 27
km north of Corum on the Corum-Osmancik highway. The tomb belongs to Commander
ikezius and dates back to the second century BC. There is a podium at the front
of the rock tomb with a height of 65 m from the level of the river. This podium
leads to a second platform via 8 steps, then onto the rock tomb via 12 steps.
On the tomb’s entrance can be read the word “ikezius”. In the tomb room which
has square plan, there are figures of the dead to the right and at left. |
