Arkhangelskoe
In the 19th century Prince Yusupov, the owner of the Arkhangelskoe estate (located
near Moscow), moved all his fine art collections here. Many of the artifacts
have been preserved in the Grand Palace of the estate. The pride of Arkhangelskoe
is a large and well-kept park with memorial columns, pavilions, the Church of
St. Michael the Archangel, a colonnade, and a play theatre that still uses antique
stage sets designed by Italian artist Gonzaga. There is a magnificent view of
a bend in the Moscow River from an observation deck at the Grand Palace. Many
exhibits, festivals, and classical musk and jazz concerts take place on the
grounds of the estate.
