Borodino
The smalltown of Borodino is located 120 km (75 miles) west of Moscow. Near
the town is the Field of Borodino, one of the most famous battlefields in all
of Russian history. In 1812 Borodino was the site of the largest battle between
Russian troops and Napoleon's armies. Today Borodino is a historical military
museum preserve. Every year in early September the battle scenes of that fateful
day of 1812 are reenacted with the effort and enthusiastic participation of
many military history clubs and societies.
