Serpukhov
The cozy little town of Serpukhov is located in the south of the Moscow region,
in a picturesque place on the banks of the Oka River. The town is adorned by
many churches, ancient monasteries, and the remains of a white-stone kremlin.
From the hills of the historical part of town one can take in the fine views
of the Oka River valley. Serpukhov is home to one of the major history and art
museums in Russia. Its collection includes old icons, books, paintings, etchings,
sculptures, and traditional craft masterpieces.
