Novodevichy Convent
The architectural complex of the Novodevichy Convent is artful, beautiful,
and very impressive. This is an Orthodox convent where in the 16th - 17th centuries
women from families of Russian royalty and nobility took monastic vows. Smolensky
is the convent's main church built in the image of the Kremlin's Cathedral of
the Assumption. Many well known cultural figures are burled In the cemetery
adjacent to the church.
