Tretyakov gallery
At the end of the 19th century, Pavel Tretyakov, a merchant and industrialist
willed his vast collection of paintings to the city of Moscow. The collection
features, for example, the famous 15th century icon The Trinity by Andrey Rublyov,
the grandiose composition of Appearance of Christ to the People by Aleksanr
Ivanov, as well as the works of Russian avantgarde artists Malevich, Kandinsky,
Rodchenko, and others.
