Events in Warsaw

May. Warsaw Juwenalia is an annual college students' holiday.

Regardless of age, its participants have a great time at rock, punk and pop concerts, displays of student art (short films, cartoons, video art) and grilling parties. An important highlight of the festival involves sports tournaments (volleyball, soccer, basketball) of college teams. Finally, Juwenalia features numerous additional attractions and games, such as the mechanical bull, table football and many others.

May-September. More than a flagship Warsaw event, Chopin concerts are simply a must-attend for all Chopin enthusiasts. Recitals by acclaimed musicians are held by Chopin's Statue (tazienki Krdlewskie Park), each Sunday at 12 noon and 4pm.

June. Wianki by the Vistula refers to the ancient rituals connected with the cult of water and fire.

In accordance with Slavic traditions, the Kupala Night (summer solstice) was accompanied by festivities, fortune-telling and dances. In its present-day version, the family picnic involves fairs, culinary shows, concerts by top Polish and international bands, floating wreaths on the Vistula, striking fire and spectacular fireworks displays by Polish and foreign professionals.

September. Ecco Walkathon is a charity initiative whose contributors literally walk to make a difference. For every kilometre of their walk, Ecco donates 4 PLN to the foundation chosen by a given participant (this year Ecco supports, i.a. TVN's "You Are not Alone", SOS Children's Villages and WWF protecting polar bear habitats in the Arctic).
