Novocherkassk has been created as a new capital of the Don Cossacks, following wide span of its streets and squares, meant for reconnaissance of the cavalry squadrons and featuring parade triumphal arches together with monumental and majestic cathedral. As for Taganrog history, there are three cultural strata, reflecting three most important periods thereof: ancient and those of Peter and Chekhov. Each of them is represented by wonderful memorial places and architecture. Taganrog is a town of several palace ensembles and estate buildings, exhibiting in everything either certain architectural scale or significance of the respective personalities...

Azov might seem to the traveller as a surprisingly quiet and provincial township. However, impressive, polygonal earthen redoubts of the XVIII century with their massive gates and the powder arsenal will remind you about the former war events, which came down into the country history not as some ordinary episode. One fact evidences the great historic significance of Azov, that it is the only town in the world, in honor of which they called the sea, bearing the same name. External view of Starocherkasskaya stanitsa might fill in the soul with some particular song-like beauty and harmony. It is a site, where divine nature of the Don lower reaches is interweaved into the carved architectural plastics... The tourist routes over Rostov region are also different. In general, they are provided by leading tour operators of the region: aquatic voyages over Don river and Azov Sea, excellent fishing and hunting, travelling over hidden paths in Don steppes, traditional Cossacks hospitality, folklore festivities, arranged in Starocherkasskaya and Veshenskaya stanitsas, as well as reconstructive scenes of the everyday life of the ancient Tanais, active recreation and sports and what not. If you come here at least once, you would like undoubtedly to come back again and when observing already familiar spaces to exclaim in Pushkin's wav: «Hello, Don!»

Many Don towns might embarrass eventual tourists with their unlikeness and originality. Metropolitan Rostov was built as a commercial and merchant city. An ensemble of the real architectural masterpieces, situated in Bolshaya Sadovaya Street, represents concise encyclopedia of different architectural styles of the late XIX and earlv XX centuries.
