Shakhti
The town is located in the North-Western part of Rostov region. It is 75
km from Rostov-on-Don. The population of town is 219.8 thousand people.
The town history begins when the first settlement was founded in this region.
It was called Aleksandrovk-Grushevsk. In January,13 1921 the town got its
present name – Shakhti.
Inhabitants suffered a lot during Revolution and World War II. There are
a lot of monuments and memorials in Shakhti dedicated to those days events.
This small but scenic town is visited by hundreds of tourists annually. Central
Shakhti Square is the favorite place of locals and visitors. Central Shakhti
Cultural Park has its own entertainment area. World War II Memorial is the
part of the park complex.
