Taganrog Museum of Arts
Formation of the museum paintings' collection began in the end of the XIX
century and it is connected with the names of A P. Chekhov and I. A. Repin.
It was Ilya Efimovich, who induced the Council of the Emperor's Academy of
Arts to pass several works of famous Russian artists to Taganrog for free.
At present the collection of the Taganrog Museum of Arts consists of about
seven thousand fine arts objects. The basis is formed by the national Russian
artistic school of the end of XVU-beg. of the XX centuries and including works
of A P Antropov, F. S. Rokotov, S. F. Shchedrin, V. A Tropinin, 0. A. Kiprensky,
A K. Savrasov, I. N. Kramskoy, A P. Bogoliubov, I. I. Shishkin, I. A. Repin,
I. I. Levitan, I. K. Aivazovsky, and V. I. Surikov.
Russian arts of the boundary between the XIX-XX centuries is represented
by canvases of V. A Serov, V. D. Polenov, N. K. Rerikh, S. Y. Sudeikin, K.
A Korovin. P. P. Konchalovsky, Z. A. Serebryakova, and B. I. Kustodiev.
Modern paintings collection consists of works by P. P. Ossovskiy, V. F. Stozharov,
N. 1. Andronov, T. G. Nazarenko, I. P. Obrosov, artists of the Don area: N.
A Livada, 0. I. Lusenegov, T. F. Teryaev and others.
