Summer palace of Peter the Great
The summer palace of Peter the Great us a historical, architectural, memorial
and artistic monument one of the few remaining constructions of Peter the Great's
time. It was built in 1711-1712 by architect Domenico Trezzini. Together with
the garden surrounding it. The palace was a summer residence in which the royal
family lived from may until October. The palace has preserved: wooden panels,
Dutch ceramic tiles in the decoration of the walls and furnaces. Painted and

building.
From 1925 to 1934, the summer palace belonged to the historical and everyday
life department of the Russian museum. And from 1934 it received the official
status of an independent museum.
During the great patriotic war the exhibits of the palace were evacuated. And
already in 1947 the museum was opened for visitors.
Since 2004, the summer palace has re-entered the Russian museum.
In the 18, 19 and 20 centuries there were made various 'repairs' in the summer
palace, restoration works were carried out. After the complex restoration of
2014-2017. The interiors of the summer palace acquired a new life: parquets
and marble floors were restored. New paints were shone with picturesque ceiling.
