Between 1157 H (1745 AD) and 1225 H (1810 AD)Z forces from al-Dir'iyyah carried the message of reform to all parts of Arabia. Al-Dir'iyyah became the most powerful town that Najd had ever known. With the military success of al-Saud, wealth poured in and traders flocked to the markets of al-Dir'iyyah.
The Alliance of Al-Dir'iyyah
The Amir Muhammad ibn Sa'ud said to Shaikh Muhammad ibn ’Abdul Wahhab, "Receive
the glad tidings of a country better than your country, and glad tidings of
that shall be honored and defended." The Shaikh replied, "And I give
you glad tidings of honor and authority with the word, There is no god but:
Allah. Whoever holds fast to it, acts according to it, and defends it shall
be master of the land and the people. It is the word of the oneness of Allah
and the foremost thing to which the Prophets called, from the first of them
to the last." The Shaikh then explained to him what the Messenger of Allah
stood for, upon him be peace and the blessings of Allah, and that which he called
the people to. He explained what his Companions, may Allah be pleased with them,
held to after him, what they established and what they forbade; and declared
that any innovation is an error. He explained that Allah strengthened them by
their striving in His cause, enriched them thereby, and made them brothers.
The Shaikh then told him of that which the people of Najd now practiced in
contrast to them: their idolatry, innovations, dissention, oppression, and injustice.
When the Amir Muhammad realized the meaning of Allah's oneness and it's implications
of spiritual and material well-being, he declared, "O Shaikh, this is indeed
the religion of Allah and His Messenger, in which there is no doubt. Receive
the glad tidings that I shall support you and that which you command, and shall
strive against whoever opposes Allah's oneness." The Amir Muhammad then
extended his hand and pledged his allegiance to the Shaikh to hold to the religion
of Allah and His Messenger and to strive in the cause of Allah, to establish
the laws of Islam, to command good and forbid evil.
