Lanzarote

Route 1. The southern Coast.

Taking the main North / South road in direction of Yaiza, you will pass the villages of Tias and Macher. Before arriving in Uga (specializing in smoked salmon) we can take the left road which leads to Puerto Calero (luxurious marina worth seeing), where you can find the Canarian Whale and Dolphin Museum. Continuing on the main road we get to the village of Yaiza, where you can find La Era Restaurant, and sample typical canarian food. From there, we can head for El Golfo (where you can see the amazing green lake), Los Hervideros, Las Salinas de Janubio, Playa Blanca and the marvellous Papagayo Beaches.

Route 2. The volcanic centre.

Leaving Yaiza, we take the road which leads to the Montahas del Fuego (the Fire Mountains), zone of also buy a souvenir of our famous artist, in Teguise a lively and varied local market takes place on Sundays full of curiosities.

Route 4. The North Land of Contrasts.

From the capital Arrecife, in the direction of Orzola we pass Tahiche, where the "Fundacion Cesar Manrique" is located. We go on to Guatiza, where the main attraction, famous for its stunnig cacti, is the "Jardin de Cactus", Cesar Manrique's last work. We continue through Mala to Arrieta, a small fishing village known for its good fish, from where we go on to visit the "Cueva de los Verdes" (beautiful caves) and "Jameos del Agua" (beautiful grotto with outstanding acoustics where famous concerts have been held). Both places recommended to be visited day and night.

Back to Arrieta, we head for Haria (valley of the 1000 palm trees) a typical village with a touch of African oasis. We continue on to "El Mirador del Rio", overlooking the Famara cliffs, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the island of La Graciosa. On the way back, we head again for Haria in direction of Los Valles and Teguise. In Nazaret we recommend a visit to the Restaurant - Museum Lagomar.

These are only a few of the places you can visit on the island of Lanzarote.
