Stavropol > Manych Trophy
Manych Trophy
One of the most promising wellsprings for Stavropol's economic develpment is
its surfeit of resources for tourism and recreation. The ecological resort region
of ) Kavkazkie Mineralnye Vody (KMV) is not the only place, where developing
tourism is possible. One of the newer f “growth zones" is Apanasenovskiy
County, which seduces visitors with its variety of flora and fauna. When formulating
the concept of creating an ecological steppe park within the county, the regional
authorities identified good prospects for active and extreme tourism as well
as ecological driving competition attracted !than 1500 spectators to the villa
Divnoe, Apanasenovskiy County. Nineteen in off-road vehicles took part in the
Manych Troph contest, in which they had to follow the organisers ro steep and
potholed track built in a local ravine as quickly as possible.
Modified Russian Nivas and UAZes performed best on the difficult course, and
most of the teams had indeed come to Divnoe in them. The competitors took part
in the Trophy in several Cute, depending on the fit-out of their off-roaders.
It is worthy of note that in the most prestigious category, where real victories
an had, the winning teams navigator was a woman. Only two nineteen teams were
of mixed gender.
Since the first Manych Trophy competition was held in 2008, the Strizhament
jeep club, which had been founded earlier in Stavropol, has gained a rival:
the Steppe Wolves, whose members, having perfected their craft, this time took
first place in one of the three categories.
No unfortunate incidents were recorded as having caused any injuries among
the participants, although one of the off-roaders did actually flip on the dangerous
track. Apart from watching the extreme sportsmen enjoy the ride, Manych Trophy
2010 spectators were able to enjoy an active recreation programme featuring
balloon and light aircraft flights.
