Corum has taken advantage of its geographical
position since the Old Bronze Ages and 2000 BC
by using its many natural passes to become
integrated with Central Anatolia. The oldest ancient -
settlement discovered in Corum by scientific
archaeological studies dates back to the
Chalcolithic Age (6000-3000 BC). During the
Bronze Age (3000-2000 BC) the Anatolian city
nations were known as the Hatti, and were governed
by regional kings.
Hittites entering Anatolia from 2000 BC also
used the name of Hatti when they were referring
to their country. Since the first readers of cuneiform
encountered the term “Hatti” on ancient tablets,
they have given this tribe, which used a different
language from Aryan language, the name of Hatti.
This tribe speaking the Hatti language was the
owner of Anatolia before the Hittites and had
created its own high culture in Anatolia.
When the Hittites first entered Anatolia in
2000 BC they found themselves in the golden
age of Hatti culture.
Great City nations appeared in Central Anatolia
in 1750 BC. During this period known as the Age
of Assyrian Trade Colonies, native peoples and
kings had established cultural and trade relations
with Assyria and Babylon.
In this age the discrepancy of wealth amongst the kings, a wealth earned by
trading with centres at Syria and with the Assyrians was a source of problems.
In 1750 BC Anitta from Nesha, besieged. Following the declaration of the Republic th on October 29 1923 Corum became
a city of the Turkish Republic - the foundation of modern day Turkey. Corum
with its history of civilizations dating back to the Hittites and its archaeological
