Copper Mining in UAE

Copper has been mined from the mountains of the UAE and Oman for over 5000 years. Large-scale mining was carried out in the Wadi Safarfir over 1,000 years ago. The copper produced here was probably transported to the Omani Batlnah Coast and then moved along the trade routes running through the Abbasid Empire from North Africa to Iran.
