Children's recreation

Everybody knows that children love adventures. And any journey or short excursion is an event full of discoveries for them.

Every year special tourist train routes are developed for schoolchildren to such cities as: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Suzdal, Volgograd, Minsk and others in search of such discoveries and adventures... These trips are usually highlight the history of the country and are very important for children’s education. Children also go sight-seeing in those cities they visit, and teachers, psychologists and group leaders organize competitions, quizzes and creative evenings for them along the way on the train.

Children enjoy theme camps within the most picturesque places of the Voronezh region as well. For several days’ kids play the roles of Slavs, Indians, Spartans, Medieval Knights and other historical characters. These little amateurs of the Slav culture turn themselves into Polyans, Vyatichis, Krivichis and other tribes and they wear ancestors’ clothing, and try working on ancient crafts: wood carving, beadwork, embroidery, pottery and learn about the history of Slavs, who lived in the territory of the Voronezh region. And fans of North American Indian stories mimic games in the forest where knowledge of forest and the orientation in the area are required. Yet those who are keen on winter adventures choose the camp called “The Russian North” in January. Experienced instructors of the camp organize winter games and entertainment, teach the young adventurers mountain-skiing technique and a survival course during their stay in the camp. An expedition appropriately titled “Around the World in Voronezh” is another interesting project where country-based children come to the city for a few days for sight-seeing and educational programs and they also visit a circus or cinema. And young city-dwellers go to the country side and get to know and understand rural life, which is almost exotic for children of a megalopolis. They get to see and even try milking a cow, packing hay and taking care of cattle.

In summer, linguistic camps are open for those boys and girls, who want to improve their foreign language and spend an unforgettable summer vacation with their friends.

The Voronezh region houses many health resorts and spas for children. Regional natural resources such as a mild climate, clean forest air and medicinal mineral waters are favorable for the development of health institutions. Somovo children’s resort located in a pine forest about 15 km from Voronezh is dedicated to children with respiratory diseases. Pavlovsky health spa accepts children with psychoneurological ailments, and the Chertovitskiy children’s spa of Dzerzhinskiy offers general prophylactic programs. The latter has a popular water park that has become a favorite place for a family holiday not only for children, but for their parents as well.

Above all, there is one unanimous fact; and that is childhood impressions of journeys are the brightest memories of their lifetime. These memories are stored longer than any others in our adult life and sometimes make us so nostalgic of those past careless and happy days.
