Yerophey Pavlovich Khabarov

Yerophey Pavlovich Khabarov, a participant of mastering of Siberia

Khabarov made his first campaign to Siberia in 1625 to Mangazeya. In 1650-1651 years he twice appeared on the Amur river and then he used to master the region systematically. He floated along the whole Amur, built a forpost, fought with local dwellers and made them pay a tax (locally-yasak). There are discussions about Yerophey Khabarov's birthplace for a long time.

Yerophey Pavlovich Khabarov was born in the first decade of the XVII th century in the village Svyatitsa of Kotlas district of Arkhangelsk region. The Moscow Scientist G. B. Krasnoshtanov carefully studied local documents of that periode, kept in Moscow archives as well. At the result of that work it became clear, that Y.P. Khabarov was really born in the village Svyatitsa, which had been carried away by the flood waters of the North Dvina. The Khabarovs family moved to the village Vystavka Lenivets (later it got the nickname Svyatitskil), which was Included into the complex of today's village Kurtsevo.

The name of Khabarov carry: founded In 1858 the military post Khabarovka (since 1893 - the city Khabarovsk); the township and railway station "Yerophey Pavlovich" on Transsiberian railway main line (1909); there is Khabarov street in the city of Kharkov.
